Fiber Art Junkies – Gallery 194 Show

Warning: Photo intensive post ahead!

Our gallery show officially ends tomorrow up at Gallery 194. Since I still cannot get the pictures off of my camera, I ran up there today and took a bunch of photos with my phone so that I could finally share them with you.

Some of the photos may be a little fuzzy and I apologize for that in advance. I’m feeling a little shaky today for some reason.

We had eight of our members exhibiting their fiber art in the show, and we filled not only the main gallery but both emerging artist hallways as well! I think Jim, the gallery manager (I think), said we had over 150 different pieces in the exhibit!

“Enough typing, Shell…where’s the photos??”

Okay, okay…here they are!  Once I figure out where WordPress hid the add media button. Oh, there it is!

Handy Words

As soon as I finished the face embroidery,  I immediately jumped into outlining the hand that I had planned to do next.

I did a few of the lines going through the hand then started on the main outline.

Right about this point,  where you see in the picture above,  the hand decided it did not want to be done the same as the face.  And it was pretty insistent.  So i finished the main outline plus a few more interior lines.   And started to work on the rings.

After that,  it fell into place and only a couple days later,  the hand was finished.

While this did not go the way I originally planned,  I’m very happy with how it turned out.   It was fun adding the “bling” to the design.  And i can always make another hand later that is filed with tons of small satin stitched sections.

Have I started anything else?  Of course!  I’ll even give you a sneak peek! Just of the drawing anyway,  which I ended up coloring in with my colored pencils:

The Letter D

I decided on the letter D to put in the center of my little block that I shared yesterday:

I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. So I decided I had to do another!

This one is actually more purple than the picture shows. I wish purple showed better.
And after some trial and error, I was able to copy the M from the Needle’N Threads pattern that is available. Right now it’s just traced onto a piece of dissolving paper that I can sew through.

Now I need to figure out what colors I want to use for this one.
